Frequently Asked Questions
I have shot weddings for over 10 years now and I would say that my style has evolved tenfold over that period. I am now far more relaxed and have learnt that enjoying the day is as crucial for me as it is for the couple and their guests. I trust my abilities and my equipment and it leaves me to get the shots that I want. During a wedding there are many emotions that, as a photographer, I need to react to quickly without being too intrusive.
I try (and normally succeed) in blending into the wedding party to such an extent that the clients are amazed at what photographs I have managed to capture. As a photographer though I can only take what the clients want and this is where my relaxed approach really helps.
My wedding photography packages start from £1495, however not all weddings are the same. Some are smaller and more intimate and need to be priced accordingly. Please contact me for further information.
All of my wedding packages include high resolution digital images that can be printed and shared. You will also receive an option to have the images posted onto an online gallery which you can share with friends and family no matter how far away or close they live.
I have a variety of album styles available at an additional premium.
In short, yes. A second wedding photographer is available and would be an extra £175. They would stay up to the speeches (unless requested otherwise). I do have a network of professional photographers that I have access to for my second photographer, although I normally use the same one. I’d never charge if the second photographer was a trainee or student and it would be entirely up to the client if they wanted them there at all.
Much of this will depend on when you are getting married. During quieter periods then I endeavour to have your images ready within two to three weeks, however it can take up to six weeks to have all of the proofs and your digital files ready.
If you have chosen to have an album made up then once ordered the album provider normally takes three weeks to have your wedding album ready.
Touch wood, this has never happened. Having access to a huge network of professional photographers I always have back up. I have actually helped out somebody who was in a similar position a few years ago. We all look after each other, but unless my leg was chopped off then I would make sure that I was at the wedding!!
My studio is open Monday to Friday and I will open up on a weekend to meet with clients if needed. I will also come and meet you at your own home or on neutral ground, such as your venue if it's easier. Getting to know your wedding photographer is one thing that I would always recommend as you have to spend a lot of time with them on your wedding day and you need to get on with each other.
Assuming that I am available on your wedding day, I will send all the information needed along with a booking form and payment details for the deposit of a £250 booking fee (this fee comes off your overall total).
Unfortunately, I am unable to hold any date, both form and deposit are required to secure your booking. Some peak dates are booked up to two years in advance so I advise swift action where possible.
I’ll be honest here, not that I haven’t been anywhere else though! If you provide me food then I will be overjoyed. A hot meal after many hours work is always welcomed. I used to have this in my terms and conditions, but removed it recently as most clients provided me with a meal anyhow. It is entirely up to you, but if you can’t provide me (and a second photographer if that option is chosen) with a meal, then please let me know as some venues can’t provide anything if not ordered in advance and alternative arrangements would need to be sorted out.
I guess the simple answer to that is how long is a piece of string? I normally book a two hour slot for all studio sittings which usually gives enough time. Some studio shoots however are over far quicker as it all depends what you are looking for. A large family shoot with different members of the family in different shots with take up more time than a headshot. How long it takes to photograph a toddler is often decided by the toddler…..when they are done they are done!!
Yes and no! There is a sitting fee of £50 for all standard studio shoots, however, this fee is waived once £95 of orders are placed.
Location shoots are different and they have a basic £75 fee. If your shoot is over 25 miles from the studio then there is a 50p per mile (both ways) charge.
Bespoke studio shoots will be priced accordingly and will include a price that includes both the sitting and the end product.
Yes. There is a bus stop which is only 100 yards away and the train station is only a few hundred yards away. As for parking there are three free car parks in Pencoed and all only a five minute walk away. There is a lay-by outside the front of my studio and although cars are often parked in it, it does have double yellow lines and traffic wardens will ticket if caught.
To make a studio sitting, the best way is to give me a call, but if that’s not possible then either send me a message through the contact form or message me on Facebook. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can to arrange a day and time. Alternatively, you can always call into the studio to arrange a booking face to face.
The studio’s normal opening times are from 9.30am until 5pm Monday to Friday. However, if you require a sitting outside of these times then ask as I might be available. I often work evenings and weekends.
